wxWidgets is  a cross-platform C++ library that allows developers to create applications for Linux, MAC OS X, Windows, etc. with just a single code base.

In this tutorial, we will see how to compile and install wxWidgets 3.0.2  under Debian 8 Jessie and Debian 7 Wheezy.

wxWidgets 3.0.2 Installation

To install wxWidgets from source under Debian, open the terminal and issue these commands:

su -
apt-get install build-essential checkinstall libgtk-3-dev
wget -c http://goo.gl/5bhSLm -O wxWidgets-3.0.2.tar.bz2
tar -vxjf wxWidgets-3.0.2.tar.bz2
cd wxW**
mkdir gtk-build && cd gtk-build
../configure --enable-unicode --enable-debug
make install

Once wxWidgets is installed (it may take several minutes for the installation to finish), you can check the current installed version using this command:

wx-config --version
It must show 3.0.2 as output..

Have a nice day!
