In this tutorial, we will see how to easily install Wine 1.7.41 from source under CentOS and Fedora systems. As you know, Wine is a great software for running Windows applications on Linux platforms.

To make the installation easier, I have created a simple bash script that will automatically download and install Wine on your system.

Wine 1.7.41 Installation

To install Wine 1.7.41 on CentOS 7 and Fedora 21 or older, open the terminal and run these commands (root privileges required):

su -
wget https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/47950494/LinuxServe/wine
chmod +x wine
sh ./wine

Then follow setup instructions. When Wine is fully installed, you can check the current version using one of these commands depending on your system architecture:

For 32-Bit platforms, run this command:

wine --version

For 64-Bit platforms:

wine64 –version

You will be asked to install some packages needed by Wine..

Have a nice day!
